Nau mai haere mai Geraldine Preschool

Geraldine Preschool Incorporated is a non profit, community owned early childhood education centre governed by an elected Board of Governance. Our modern, spacious facility is purpose built and designed to maximise learning opportunities.

The preschool provides education and care for 72 tamariki (children).12 tamariki under 2 and a maximum of 30 tamariki in each of the other 2 classes. Across all age groups the preschool operates with kaiako (teacher)/tamaiti (child) ratio’s lower than Ministry of Education requirements.

We are committed to providing quality, age-appropriate programmes that foster and extend tamariki learning and development. Te Whariki (the NZ Early Childhood Curriculum) forms the basis for these child-led programmes.

Our Philosophy

As a community based preschool we are actively engaged in the Raukapuka community. We recognise that our unique bicultural heritage is founded in Te Tiri O Waitangi, therefore all tamariki have the right to experience the languages, values, and traditions of the cultures of Aotearoa.

We foster supportive relationships that enable us to have fun together; embrace challenges with a growth mindset and value the opportunity for diverse partnerships. (Whanaungatanga)

We believe in ongoing teaching and learning that supports innovation, independence, social and emotional competency and growth while respecting and building on what learners (tamariki, whānau (family), kaiako and community) already know. (Manaakitanga)

Enviroschool principles are interwoven into our daily practice, providing opportunities and experiences that deepen tamariki understanding and knowledge while fostering values and attitudes relating to sustainability; creating a culture of respect for Te Ao Maori and care for all people, places and things. (Kaitiakitanga)
